uncle bobby’s tips on adulting and how to have more good days than bad

is anybody listening?
How many times have you wished you could talk about the things that are bothering you with the well-meaning people who ask if you're okay, but you hold back because you know that if you get started, you won't want to stop? Also, while you may be grateful for the fact that someone cares enough about you to ask what's wrong, you don't really want their advice. I don't know about you, but to me, it's kind of insulting when somebody listens to me bare my soul to them and then offers a "solution" that completely dismisses the gravity of what I'm feeling, which leaves me feeling totally misunderstood and a bit resentful of the fact that I now have to pretend to be grateful for their "sage" advice. If only there was a way I could talk to someone who will listen attentively while I rant and not follow it up with some stupid platitude that only serves to pump up their own ego. Oh wait, there IS!
